august in review: city passes, day one

In between road trips, and while Kathleen and her kids were here visiting from New Jersey, we took advantage of the City Pass for our city and got to see lots of places for one low price. The kids all had a blast (with the exception of my 15 year old nephew, who'd rather just stayed home on the computer, funny boy).

The first day we got to visit the Clark Planetarium, The Discovery Gateway Children's museum and get a free lunch (included in the pass) at The Lion House. After only two attractions the pass had paid for itself--I LOVE a good deal! Sarah and Emma especially had fun showing their cousin, Lydia, all the fun places that they, themselves, had been to so many times.

Sarah reading about Saturn at the large planets exhibit at the Planetarium. The kids had fun playing on the surface of the "moon", being weightless and watching the gravity balls.

The visit to the Planetarium included an Imax movie in 3D (we chose Saturn's rings) and a Dome movie (we chose the Blackholes). We could have stayed there forever and spent a fortune in their gift shop!

"The beehive" musical center of the Children's museum. Again, we had sooo much fun here (the teenagers got a little bored) and we could've spent a fortune, but gave the girls' a $2 limit for souvenirs.

The girls all loved the first level: playing music, grocery store, farmer, playing house, and construction, fireman and water play. Oh, the pictures that I could inundate this blog with!
Morgan especially loved the grocery store and house play area. Very domestic, that baby of mine. She loved the cash register and loud speaker!

Here she is making "dinner" for daddy. (Don't ya know that pretzels go on top of waffles?) He, being the excellent daddy that he is ate everything all gone! Loved this kitchen!

Emma also enjoyed some domestic play. She's all ready with her oven mits to get the hot bread out of the "oven".

Here she is playing a mail carrier (they have little envelopes to deliver to various mail boxes at different stations throughout the area). I love this picture!

Sarah and Lydia played mostly on the farm and as cowgirls--so stinkin' cute!!! Here they are galloping into the sunset lassoing up some grub.

Cowgirls Lydia and Sarah.
These guys are only 5 weeks apart and two peas in a pod. Definitely "bff's"!
On the second floor they played with the storyboard video maker, magnets and testing the aerodynamics of paper airplanes. Then we ran over to The Lion House Pantry for a yummy dinner (I had BBQ chicken, Gene had pot roast and Sarah had coke pork. Emma & Morgan had chicken strips. It was delicious homemade food!) and then toured the temple grounds a bit, then went home....and that's all for this day.
